CaribGenius ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of students and users of the CaribGenius exam preparation platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to that information.

By using CaribGenius, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

Information We Collect

  • Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
  • Profile information: your territory, exam path, and enrolled subjects.
  • Usage data: quiz attempts, practice sessions, diagnostic results, and progress metrics.
  • Device information: device type, operating system, and push notification tokens for sending alerts.
  • Payment information: subscription status. Payment processing is handled by third-party providers (Stripe, Apple, Google) — we do not store card details directly.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and personalise the exam preparation experience, including diagnostic assessments and study recommendations.
  • Track your progress, generate readiness scores, and surface your weakest topics.
  • Manage your account and subscription.
  • Send you notifications relevant to your preparation, where you have opted in.
  • Improve the platform by analysing aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share data with:

  • Payment processors (Stripe, Apple, Google) to manage subscriptions.
  • Infrastructure providers for hosting and delivery of the platform.
  • AI service providers for the AI-powered explanation feature, using only the specific question content — not your identity.

Data Retention

We retain your account and progress data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Children and Students

CaribGenius is designed for secondary school students, including those under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has registered without consent, please contact us so we can remove the account.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent for notifications or marketing at any time via the app settings.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data storage, HTTPS-only communication, and Sanctum token authentication for API access. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via email. Continued use of CaribGenius after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
